LEVERKUSEN, Apr 3 (SW) - Zenit St. Petersburg is the biggest winner of the first leg in the UEFA Cup quarter finals, while PSV, Getafe and Sporting all achieved potentially valuable away draws.
Earlier on the day, Bayer were downgraded to no more than average when their Russian visitors pushed them aside 1-4 with goals from Arshavin, Pogrebnyak, Anjoekov and Denisov. The only German goal came from Kieszling.
PSV Eindhoven visited Fiorentina and conceded a goal from Adrian Mutu in the 56th minute. Striker Danny Koevermans levelled seven minutes later however, and the Dutch side are now in a good position for the return leg.
PSV will have to do without Farfᮠnext week though, as the Peruvian collected a late yellow card and is now suspended. Whether goalkeeper G is available for the next game remains to be seen. The Brazilian had to come off injured in the second half.
Bayern Munich thought to have everything under control against underdogs Getafe when Luca Toni opened the score in the 25th minute, but Romanian Cosmin Contra surprised the host by equalizing near the final whistle.
No goals were scored at Ibrox Stadium, where Glasgow Rangers hosted Sporting Lisbon. Anything will be possible next week in the Portuguese capital.
