Those riders who were riding in the south during the 90’s will no doubt remember the SAMS series of XC races. SAMS was the most popular MTB series in the country with crowds of Sunday riders and a fair amount of world class riders turning up for most rounds.
With the help of sponsorship from Felt Bicycles and Pedal On the SouthernXC series, as it's now named, is being relaunched to return it to its heyday.
The series visits 6 of the best courses in the country and carries BC ranking points for the first time in several years.
Henry Turgoose from the organising team commented: “The help we’re getting from Pedal On and Felt Bikes is helping us deliver a more professionally organised series. We’ve been working hard on developing the courses to offer fast and fun racing for everyone, from elite riders to beginners and under 10 year olds”
The series kicks off this weekend (6th April) on the Mapledurham Estate. “We’ve been working hard on the course, which we’re confident is one of the best all weather courses in the country”.
